Celebration of National Science Day - 2006
The National Science Day is observed every year on 28th February to mark the novel discovery of Raman Effect by the grate Indian Physicist Sir C. V. Raman on February 28th, 1928. After two years of this discovery, Sir C. V. Raman brought the first Nobel Award for the country. Hence the National Science Day is a great day for Indian Science and scientific community.
Since the Gujarat Science City is mainly promoting and conducting science popularization programmes and activities, it is very essential to celebrate the National Science Day in a big way. Illustrative poster exhibition on the theme, demonstration of magic of sciences; puppet shows on scientific themes, popular science book exhibition, popular science lecture on important aspects of physics and on general science and technology, night sky watch activities have been proposed for large number of visitors during the period. A detailed programme of activities has been prepared and is enclosed herewith for kind reference.
In addition, there may be special shows for IMAX, Simulator ride, Musical fountain etc. We may give a really festive mood to the entire campus of Science City with coloured lights and decorative display panels.
Like previous year, we wish to celebrate the National Science Day 2006 as a weeklong Science Week Festival from 24th February to 2nd March 2006. It is proposed to organize the activities at the area between Life Science Park and Space & Communication Hall. Some of the activities may be held at the Children Activity Corner and Auditorium I too.
We may invite Hon'ble Chief Minister and Chief Secretary to address on the Special Science Day programme on 28th Feb and release the scientific event calendar and other resource materials.
A tentative list of activities is enclosed herewith. All are requested to go through the same and comment / suggest many more activities which can be included in the celebration.
