Celebration of National Technology Day at Gujarat Science City
The Gujarat Science City, working under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat is celebrating 9th National Technology Day on 11th May 2007 as part of its endeavour to promote science and technology awareness, education and communication.
National Technology Day signifies the glorious achievements of Indian science and technology advancements and has been celebrated all over the country after the successful Pokharan II Test on 11th May 1998. It is an occasion to take stock of India and technology as of today and explore what we should be doing if India has to emerge as a technological power.
On this occasion, Science City is organizing elocution and poster painting, quiz competition among students, illustrative exhibition on Indian Science & Technology. School students from Std VI to Std XII can participate in the elocution competition on 10th May 2007 to be held from 11.00 am in Auditorium I. The poster painting and exhibition will be held on 11th May 2007 in Auditorium II. There will be no registration fee. Meritorious students will receive certificates and prizes are to be distributed on the same day evening.
Technology is the application of Science and it drives the future. The public is keeping abreast with the technology changes. More than ever, individuals value the importance of technology changes in education.
The Gujarat Science City, has initiated several programmes to inform the common mass in general and school children in particular about the exciting world of Science and Technology. The Science City offers fun and informative exhibits presented in interactive worlds. One can learn and have fun with science and innovation through hands-on experiences in the Hall of Science, Energy Education Park, Large format IMAX movies, Motion Simulator and scientific activities in Children Activity Centre.
Several programmes and activities have been regularly organized at Science City that depict various scientific themes linked with the day-to-day life that can bring scientific temper, attitude and deploying science for awareness and empowerment of the community. Students and teachers can take the advantage of vacation science programmes being conducted at Science City from the month of May which includes, creative science learning through puppetry, origami, nature study activities, interactive session on science and math, astronomy and sky observation.
National Technology Day is an occasion to recognize excellence in science and technology for the socio-economic upliftment of our state and nation. We are proud of the contributions made by our scientists and engineers who work or have been working to make our country proud.
