3... 2 ...1 .... SPACE STATION 3D TO LAUNCH AT GUJARAT SCIENCE CITY

Daily Departures to the International Space Station begin on 21st July 2007

Ahmedabad, 20.07.2007 - Come 21st July, all  visitors, classrooms and families of all ages will experience an out-of-this-world adventure  - a trip into outer space by way of SPACE STATION 3D, the first ever IMAX ®  3D space film set to take flight at Gujarat Science City IMAX 3D Theatre at 18:00 hrs. The 47 minutes exploration will take visitors 354 kilometers above the Earth to visit the International Space Station (ISS), where our Astronaut Sunita Williams spent a record time of six months for scientific exploration. Visitors will feel like they are working side by side with space exploration, orbiting the Earth every 90 minutes, traveling at 28,160 kilometers per hour.

An Astronomical Adventure

According to SCITY Quick Vote held early in this month, more than 86% of respondents would buy a ticket for a flight into space if money were no object.  And while some civilians are paying an astronomical amount to do so, now SPACE STATION 3D fulfills that dream, delivering the celestial experience first-hand.

The SPACE STATION 3D is being filmed at 28,160 kilometers per hour as the ISS orbits earth.  The Earth's surface is rotating about its axis at 1,532 feet per second at the equator, and the planet zips around the sun at more than 18 miles per second!

The Mission

SPACE STATION 3D is the story of the greatest engineering feat since landing a man on the moon - the construction of the International Space Station.  The global collaborative mission unites 16 nations with a common goal to further human space exploration.

Narrated by multi Academy Award ® nominee Tom Cruise, SPACE STATION 3D transports audiences 220 miles above Earth to experience life in space.  As audiences blast off, they are joined by the astronauts and cosmonauts who directed and filmed their in-orbit assembly of the International Space Station. This is the first time that audiences will have the all encompassing view that only astronauts and cosmonauts are privileged to experience.  The camera actually puts you right there, with them, moving around and floating in space,? "said SPACE STATION 3D producer Toni Myers. The IMAX 3D footage captures the excitement and magnitude of this amazing project being built in outer space in a way that no other medium can."?

It's in the Stars

The film, presented by Lockheed Martin Corporation in cooperation with NASA, takes audiences on an incredible 3D cinematic journey of discovery. The will undoubtedly entertain and educate audiences of all level for many years to come.

The Flight Plan

The exploration into International Space Station is ready at Gujarat Science City Ahmedabad from 21st July 2007. During Monday to Friday, visitors can experience the film at 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm where in weekdays Saturday and Sundays there will be three shows at 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm. School children can avail the programme either in the above time or in a special screening with a group not less than 250 members.

The Space Visa Ticket

The Space Station 3D ticket charges for adult member is Rs. 125/-. The charge for child ticket is Rs. 100/-. The school student may have a space experience at Rs. 90/- per student.  Special shows may be arranged for a minimum booking of 250 members for the journey.

For information on tickets and show times, interested crewmembers may call on 079-6522 0111 (Ticket Counter) or 6522 2127 / 28 (Office). Ticket information and show times can also be found online at scity.org.  For school children exploration and general group booking and reservation for an exclusive trip aboard SPACE STATION, please call on the above telephone in advance.

Gujarat Science City, working under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat is all set to open a new pavilion on Space and Communication, which has been designed as a high-tech exhibition involving latest techniques, as adapted by recent science centers in the worldwide. With a significant floor area of 20,000 sq ft, the pavilion will acquaint the visitors about the ways and the working models of the new vistas opened by the space and communication explorations.

The exciting thing is that we don't know what lies beyond the unopened door and each door will open to many more doors each answer leading to many more questions.

All are cordially invited to take the chance of fist day first exploration of SPACE STATION and to explore the mystery and magic of International Space Station through the use of breathtaking 3D imagery.
