Gujarat Science City is organizing one day seminar on 'Working together for Health' for the primary and community health centre health workers to mark the celebration of World Health Day on 7th April 2006. The seminar gives an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable contribution to human health and development made by health workers.
The World Health Day has been celebrated worldwide on 7th April every year for engaging the general public in discussion and debate and awareness on important health issues. On this date in 1948, the World Health Organization (WHO) was constituted.
The World Health Day 2006 has been devoted to the health workforce crisis with the slogan "Working together for health”. On this day around the globe, hundreds of organizations will host events to draw attention to the global health workforce crisis and celebrate the dignity and value of working for health. The Gujarat Science City plans to bring this awareness and orientation programmes in the theme of together, we can make a difference. About 100 health workers from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts are attending the seminar.
Dr. Nitin S. Shah, Director, Kesar Sal Medical College and Hospital, has kindly consented to inaugurate the seminar at 11.00 am. The Seminar will address the topics like primary health care, emerging diseases, chronic and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, emergency preparedness and responses, etc., to be delivered by the eminent resource persons in this field.

In addition, there will be an illustrative poster exhibition on "Health is Wealth" to sensitized the importance of good health for the societal development, activities for school students, health quiz, puppet and slide shows on the above theme have been arranged for mass awareness.
Working at the interface of science, society and education, the Gujarat Science City has taken a bold step to enhance the scientific awareness among the school children and the community. Emerging as a large scale science popularization platform the Gujarat Science City is designing various activities and programme for creating interest and excitement for appreciating science and its mass dissemination for societal development.
