IGNOU/ UNESCO Science Olympiad 2011 for Science Students
Since the dawn of modern science, advances made in areas of agriculture, medicine, communications, human comforts etc. have been astoundingly manifold. Science has many more opportunities for young minds since economic productivity is related to scientific discoveries.

 
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi and the Cluster Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), New Delhi are co-sponsoring a Science Olympiad for Science Students currently enrolled in India’s 11th standard/class or Equivalent in South Asian countries- India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka.
 
IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad is intended to ignite the younger generation's capacity to transform their vast intellectual potential into productive ventures.
All students who have scored a minimum of 60% average in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the terminal examination of the 10th Standard/Class or equivalent grade are eligible to participate.
 
They should register for participation in this Olympiad along with a recent photograph on their application form, a certification for having obtained a minimum of 60% average in the science subjects of their 10th standard/class examination grade and a token fee of Indian Rs. 100 (One hundred only). This registration fee is only for Indian students.
 
Online registration can be done in a proforma found in the website of IGNOU and UNESCO.
 
School principals/authorities are requested to promote the participation of all bright students and forward the registration from their respective schools along with a demand draft in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi/credit card authorization.
 
Successful participants will receive certificates of merit, medals, cash prizes and awards. Top 1000 participants will be given IGNOU-UNESCO accredited merit certificates. About 40 meritorious participants from all SAARC countries will be invited to IGNOU, New Delhi to take the second test and receive the awards in person in a special award ceremony.
